Scriptural Inspiration

We wanted to provide information regarding the titles we chose for Parsha Pearls and the Scriptural Inspiration for them. We have created this document so that you can see the thought that was put into the whole project.

Parsha Pearls

The inspiration for the title Parsha Pearls came as a result of creating children’s lessons that spoke about the Word being more valuable than hidden treasure, gold, silver, or gems such as rubies or precious stones such as pearls. All these things that are considered to show someone’s wealth and things people seek after because they are valuable and precious, do not compare to the wealth of Yahweh’s Word. At YMTOI, we feel that children should be digging into Yahweh’s Word and search for hidden treasure, gold or silver, gems or precious stones that only His Word can give us. Here are just a few verses that gave the inspiration for Parsha Pearls.

Matthew 13:45-46

Again, the reign of the heavens is like a man, a merchant, seeking fine pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.

Proverbs 3:13-16

Blessed is the man who has found wisdom, And the man who gets understanding; For the gain from it is better than gain from silver. And its increase than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, and all your delights are not comparable to her. Length of days is in her right hand, riches and esteem in her left hand.

The final book of the Brit Chadasha, Revelation talks a lot about the New Jerusalem and Yahweh’s Kingdom. I found it interesting that the city was described in great detail: streets of gold and even the walls of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones (jasper, sapphire, agate, emerald, sardonyx, ruby, chrysolite, beryl, topaz, chrysoprase, jacinth, amethyst) and the gates were pearls.

Revelation 21:21a

And the twelve gates were twelve pearls – each one of the gates was a single pearl.

Pearl Gate

Is it no wonder then that Yahweh’s Word would be compared to all this? Did you know that Yahweh even calls us His treasured possession?

Exodus 19:5

And now, if you diligently obey My voice, and shall guard My covenant, then you shall be My treasured possession above all peoples – for all the earth is Mine.

Deuteronomy 26:18

And Yahweh has caused you to proclaim today to be His people, a treasured possession, as He has spoken to you, and to guard all His commands.

Deuteronomy 14:2

For you are a set-apart people to Yahweh your Elohim, and Yahweh has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a treasured possession above all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

Because of this may we found to be studying His Word just as diligently as those who seek after hidden treasure and may we be found worthy to be called His treasured possession as we are found so doing.
